Asus Zenfone 2 Laser | Review

After making it large with the Zenfone 2, the Taiwanese smartphone makers are ready with Zenfone 2 Lazer.  It has the most efficient feature of Zenfone 2 viz 4 GB RAM and with it, it has a lot of extended features at an affordable price. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdeagon Processor which makes it different from the other zenfone family.

Build, Design and Display

The phone has very similar dimensions as of Zenfone 2.  It has a 5.5 inch screen (diagonal) size which makes it the part of phablet territory. It has a 72% screen to body ratio. It has HD (720 * 1280p) IPS display offering vibrant colours, decent brightness levels and great viewing angles.  Phone comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 safeguarding it against scratches. Touch response is just pretty good. The phone is slightly large for single hand usage but the makers have introduced a single hand use which can be initiated by double tapping on the Home Button. This mode also featured on-screen navigation keys.

Just below the display, you will find 3 capacitive touch buttons for the ease of navigation and a metallic strip that supports the phone. The phone comes  with white black and red varients.  Removing the back panel is easy. Underneath it are two micro sim card slots (both 4G LTE capable)  and a micro SD slot on the top of Sim slot.

The phone operated on 5.0.2 Lollipop with ASUS’ new ZenUI skin that supports themes. It comes with system apps, unlock gestures, double tap to wake up and Zenlink apps to connect phone with the PC. The phone has excess of preloaded apps which cannot be removed.  For example MyAsus and Support Asus can be clubbed together, similarly Quick memo and Super note could be made one.  There is also kids support in the phone by which you can just unlock some applications and can safeguard the others from the kids.  besides it also has an easy mode for elders who donot use many applications.  It offers a grid of large app icons for the most commonly used apps. Overall the entire interface makes the phone very easy to use and even gives the opportunity to to customise it when needed.

The phone comes with a 13 MP primary camera with Lazer Auto Focus for 3 second focus time and a dual LED flash. it even has a 5MP secondary camera for selfies.  It is one the those phones of this budget which comes with laser autofocus for faster focus.  It really makes the capturing close ups a breeze.  However in low light condition, the pictures has a lot of noise. Though the low light mode eliminates the noise to an extent but it reduces the details.  The front camera captures nice phones and makes you look beautiful with the beautification feature.  Video recordings are also quite satisfactory.

Asus Zenfone 2 laser (2GB RAM version) is powered by a 64-bit 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Quadcore Processor, Adreno 306 graphics and 2GB RAM. We hardly noticed any lag while navigating through the phone’s menu, launching apps and switching between them.  The phone doesnt have any freezing or heating issues. The phone offers a ver good gaming performance.  Out of 16 GB storage only 10.8 is available to the user.  but the phone comes with a memory card slot.

The phone comes with Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS connectivity options. The phone doesnt support NFC.  It offers an amazing call quality and signal reception with no problems even while making calls even in areas with weaker signal strength.

The Asus Zenfone 2 Lazer is not the best phone falling in the under 10,000 budget but it is definitely a great phone. it comes with good hardware specifications, great camera ( probably the only phone to come with 13MP and 5MP camera at this price). . It has a long battery back up and rich software features.

With this phone, ASUS is ready to take the budget phones segment to another level.
