Deadpool Continues To Destroy The Box Office!

‘Deadpool’ Is Estimated To Hold On To Number One Spot At The Box Office With Another $30 Million This Weekend

Thanks to an ingenious marketing campaign, a role made in heaven for Ryan Reynolds, and a hilarious script, Deadpool is performing way above expectations. In a way that few would’ve predicted, the R-rated, foul-mouthed, sordid, and quite frankly brilliant antihero has ravaged the box office.

The film is already the highest grossing R-rated comic book movie of all time, having earned over $500 million worldwide since its release on February 12th. Perhaps most impressive, it even beat The Force Awakens to become Russia’s biggest opening. Colossus would be proud.

And, just like Wade Wilson’s high octane alter-ego, things don’t look likely to slow down any time soon. Despite being well into its third week, Deadline believes Deadpool is set to firmly hold on to the top spot in the American box office.

Fox’s record breaker is predicted to take another whopping $30 million over the weekend, despite some strong competition. The best of the rest are as follows:

1. ‘Gods of Egypt’ – $12 Million To $15 Million Predicted

The fantasy epic, starring Gerard Butler, focuses on the brutal and chaotic battle during the Egyptian empire. It certainly has all the visual ingredients of a high grossing film.

2. ‘Eddie the Eagle’ – $7 Million To $9 Million Predicted

Another big opening of the weekend, Eddie the Eagle premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Bad news for eagle lovers — the biopic focuses not on an actual eagle, but on the career of British skier Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, who became the first British Olympic ski jumper.Taron Egerton is in the lead role, with high profile support from Wolv— Hugh Jackman and Christopher Walken.

3. ‘Triple 9’ – $7 Million To $9 Million Predicted

If the film’s cast itself could equate to buttocks on seats, crime thriller Triple 9would make a killing at the box office; Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, Woodey Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Aaron Paul, and Norman Reedus all put the pro in, erm, high profile.

‘Deadpool’ is filled to the brim with quick witted jokes and references. Have you watched the film more than once?
