Google Accused By CCI For Abusing Market Dominance

CCI accuses Google of abusing market dominance in some instances

Competition Commission of India the Indian government organization that checks on competition  and to provide an atmosphere where no Big business uses unethical tactics to be the leader in markets has recorded a finding that google abused its market dominance in some instances , which is confirmed by the watchdog, this can lead to the long legal battles that will be dragged to court.

CCI ha ordered to probe into 4 allegations against google and its investigating arm got some enough evidence to proceed with the issue in court.

Consim info pvt. Ltd & Consumer unity &  trust society ( CUTS) has filed a case against google inc. and Google india pvt. Ltd.

two other cases have been filed by  an individual Vishal Gupta and Albion Infotel Ltd. These have been filed against Google inc. , Google Ireland and google india pvt. Ltd.

Bharat matrimony moved to CCI early in 2012 and it raised allegation that the Google Adwords is being discriminatory and doing retaliatory trade practices.

AdWords is a big source of revenue for Google, involving the sale of keywords to advertisers.
Meanwhile CUTS alleged that Google was abusing its world domination position as an internet search engine by by doing “ search bias, search manipulation, denial of access & creation of entry barriers for competing search engines”.

In the following cases DG investigation report Is not final and it depends on the commission to accept or reject the findings irrespective of the conclusion.
under the anti trust allow a penalty of 10% of turnover but not more than 10% can be imposed by CCI.

Google Spokesperson of the company said “ We don’t comment on rumors and speculation. We’re confident that we comply fully with India’s competition laws and continue to work closely with CCI.”
It would be very interesting to see World top company fighting in indian soil over a petty case.
