Lucasfilm and Disney have been rapidly expanding their empire of “Star Wars” films, books, comics, video games and TV shows, but some fans just aren’t satisfied seeing Harrison Ford as Han Solo: we want him to don his trusty fedora and whip us up some new Indy adventures.
In the June issue of Vanity Fair, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy not only discussed a galaxy far, far away — she also confirmed rumors that another Indiana Jones movie “will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.”
In 2013, Disney chairman Alan Horn said another “Indiana Jones” movie wasn’t going to happen anytime soon. “We haven’t done anything,” he told Variety. “We don’t have a story. We need a story.”
Not only do they need a story, Lucasfilm might also be shopping around for a new leading man. While purists want Harrison Ford to continue as the Nazi-thwarting archeology professor, rumors abound that “Guardians of the Galaxy” hero Chris Pratt may take on the role if the series is rebooted.
For now, we’ll just have to be patient for Disney and Lucasfilm to decide Indy’s fate.
