THE SITE’S USER ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO LOGIN. INSTEAD, THEY SEE THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE: “TORRENTZ WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU. FAREWELL.”
Torrentz.eu was founded in 2003 and the website offered a stable factor in the torrent community for over 13 years. Millions visited this site per day and it is one of the most visited torrent sites. Sadly it has come to an end.
A few hours ago and without warning, Torrentz disabled its search functionality. The site’s user are no longer able to log in. Instead, they see the following message: “Torrentz will always love you. Farewell.”
Although Torrentz.eu never hosted any torrent files but they did have a takedown procedure in place, allowing copyright holders to take down infringing links. Many rights holders reported the site to the U.S. Government in recent years to shut down the website.
Earlier, KickassTorrents, the world’s largest torrent site was shut down. The owner Artem Vaulin, from Ukraine, was arrested and facing extradition to US. The Pirate Bay is also finding it difficult to continue its smooth operation.
Now with Torrentz.eu and Kickass Torrents both shutting down, the torrent community lost two of the largest sites in a period of three weeks. This means that millions of pirates will have to find new ships.
