STD Call Rates Gets Cheaper

Today is a good day for people that spend hours making STD calls. Major telecom operators have announced a revision in their STD prices from May 1, 2015 (that is today). The first to announce this news were Airtel and Vodafone. Now Videocon Teleservices too has joined the party.

Apart from STD calls, even roaming rates have been revised. These drop in prices are in line with the guidelines of TRAI.

Vodafone in its statement has shared, “Vodafone customers will now pay less for both local and STD calls on National Roaming. On roaming, for all outgoing local calls, a ceiling of 80 paise/minute has been fixed from the earlier Rs 1/min, and for STD calls it is Rs 1.15/min from earlier Rs 1.5/min. For incoming calls on roaming, a ceiling of 45 paise/minute has been fixed from the earlier 75 paise/minute.

Vodafone Customers will now pay up to 75% less for texts while on roaming. For a local text, it is 25 paise compared to Rs 1 before; and for STD texts, 38 paise from Rs 1.50 earlier, in accordance with the Telecom Regulator Authority of India (TRAI) guidelines.

Also, Vodafone has introduced Special Roaming Tariff Plan (SRTP) its Prepaid and Postpaid customers. The details of which are as below:

Videocon on its part has mentioned that the company will continue to offer free incoming calls while on roaming. Also as per the new scheme, following are the new effective prices:
