If we keep an open mind, we can learn a lot from even trivial things like video games . For all those of us who were born in the 90’s, playing video games on TV sets constituted the idea of an awesome weekend. But little did we know that reminiscing about these games when we grow up would make us realize how much they taught us about life. So, here is a list of seven things which video games taught us about life.
1. We Need To Tackle Our Troubles From Several Fronts To Win
All of us who played Contra in our adolescence would understand the importance of tackling the enemies from multiple fronts. Shock them with your skills and bombard them from every front possible. Focused and dedicated work always yields positive results.
2. Hard Work Never Goes In Vain
Results will come, they always do. And if they don’t, then your knowledge of the territory will prepare you for your future expeditions. Whenever I would play a new map in Counter Strike, it was almost certain that I would not win it the first time. But I made it a point to search for every attacking position and defensive corner so that I was better prepared the next time.
3. You Will Find Extraordinary Gems In The Most Unexpected Of Places
You will find everything that you need at your disposal if you just look hard enough. How many times did we accidently find a new life in Mario when all seemed lost? The same principle applies for life itself; we just have to look for them in the right places.
4. Each Defeat Is An Opportunity To Learn
If you are willing to learn and try again harder, then nothing in life seems impossible. No matter how much you try your hand at Tetris, you are always sure of getting the matrix filled by blocks which are unevenly placed. But slowly and steadily you learn to place them better and that is what counts in the end.
5. There Is A Restart Button For Life; We Can Always Switch Off The Negativity
Just like video games, the restart button for life is just under our thumbs. What we need to do is realize at some point and time that we need to make changes and calibrate those changes in our daily life.
6. Sometimes We Have To Take A Leap Of Faith Into The Unknown To Discover Something New
We never know for sure what lies ahead in the darkness unless and until we move forward and look for ourselves. All we need at that point and time is the courage and conviction to do what we feel is right.
7. You Will Enjoy More If You Have Good Companions On Your Journey
And, at last, you would enjoy your life much better if you have a companion who pulls you up every time you fail, waits for you when you lag behind, and supports you in difficult situations, just like your multi-player friends.
